The Provinces (2003)
Neon tubing / Dimensions vary
Commissioned as part of the construction of the court building
Depicting the outlines of the nine South African provinces established by the Constitution, the artwork symbolises the interdependent nature of the country’s parts. The artist was fascinated that the smallest province, Gauteng, is economically the richest.
