Kami Brodie, Three Working Women, Constitutional Court Art Collection, 1994
Kami Brodie (1959)
Three working women, Anna, Lizzie and Maggie (1994)
Oil and acrylic on canvas / 1512 x 750 mm
Donated by the artist
Anna, Lizzie and Maggie were domestic workers employed by the artist’s friends in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The artist wanted to honour those who were overlooked and marginalised on the basis of their skin colour, gender and class during the 1960s and 70s.
Justice Margie Victor selected this artwork as one of her favourites in the CCAC – see the short interview here.
