The bone, a shoulder blade, evokes the 'shouldering responsibility' of those tasked with creating a just and equitable society. The work speaks of the need for societal healing across social divisions. "Makhosi" is a Nguni greeting used when meeting traditional healers, and to invoke ancestral spirits for healing and guidance.
