Richard ‘Specs’ Ndimande (1994–)
Conversation I (2018)
Pen and ink on paper, 420 x 540 mm
CCAC# 0576
Donated by the artist in 2020
The artist incorporates the human-animal hybrid in many of his artworks, using this to depict the oppressed and the oppressor interchangeably. The artist deliberately obscures the line between offender or victim, beast or prey, signalling that it isn’t always clear who is in power and who is “being treated like an animal”.
