The human-animal hybrid, representing Specs and his father in intergenerational conversation, sits beside a hyena; they share a viewpoint and are placed in a strange alliance. This is the artist’s meditation on the relationship between oppressor and oppressed, a dichotomy that remains to be negotiated in post-apartheid South Africa.
