Alan Sachs
Artist Name: | Alan Sachs |
Nationality: | South African |
Year of birth: | 1971 |
Artist information: | Alan Sach, the eldest son of Justice Albie Sachs, one of the first justices of South Africa’s first Constitutional Court bench, is a visual artist known for his evocative cityscape murals. His work brings architecture and imagination together, most notably through the intricate murals he has created on the walls of one of the Court’s chambers. Born into a family deeply rooted in the South African liberation struggle, Alan spent much of his life in London, where he was raised during his father’s exile. He later furthered his studies in Cape Town, reconnecting with South Africa in the 1990s during visits that would help shape his artistic journey. Growing up in a household of prolific political activists, Alan forged his own path as an artist, quietly but powerfully. As his father once described him: “Very talented, very quiet, thoughtful.” These qualities resonate through Alan’s art, which reflects a deep sense of place, memory, and introspection. Source: |
