| Artist information: | Peter Clarke was born in 1929 in Simon’s Town. His early work was influenced by Ocean View, where he was forced to move under the Group Areas Act. His professional art career started in 1944 and spanned more than 60 years. His first solo exhibition took place in 1957 where he became known for his multimedia approach to art. In addition to art, he was also a writer and a poet. Clarke was received more than 40 awards for writing and art. Clarke died in 2014. |
