| Artist information: | Born in Durban, Vedant was one of the early groups of students who studied Fine Art at the former University of Durban-Westville (UDW) where he graduated with an Honours degree. He was awarded a British Council Scholarship in 1979 and studied Art & Design at the Middlesex Polytechnic in London. Nanackchand proceeded to lecture at UDW, becoming one of the few lecturers of colour in the Art Department at the time. He now lectures in printmaking and photography with a focus on human rights and citizenship at the University of Johannesburg.
