The work depicts the Flame of Democracy, installed on Constitution Square facing the Constitutional Court, and serves as a memorial to the ongoing struggle in achieving South Africa’s constitutional ideals. The title, when loosely translated from Sepedi means “Going forward, the flame of justice burns its bright future ahead of us”, the work serves as a reflection on the difficulties we have surmounted, the strides we have made, and the work that remains.
