Signage: | This exhibition copy, commissioned by the Constitutional Court Trust (CCT) and supported by the artist, was produced for the CCAC Travelling Exhibition in 2024. As part of a broader conservation initiative and a commitment to environmental responsibility, this edition uses energy-efficient LED Neon Flex technology as a sustainable alternative to the original neon glass edition made in 2003. The phrase “A Luta Continua” (“The struggle continues”) has long served as a rallying cry for justice—first during Mozambique’s fight for independence and later within South Africa’s liberation movements. This material adaptation of the artwork extends that legacy of activism into the realm of environmental justice. By embracing a more sustainable medium, the work not only preserves its aesthetic and symbolic power but also affirms our constitutional obligation to advance the right to a healthy and sustainable environment. In doing so, it reminds us that the struggle for freedom is ongoing—shifting with each generation to confront new challenges, including the climate crisis and environmental degradation. |
