| Signage: | An elderly Black woman is being arrested by a police officer; residents of Sophiatown resisted the forced removals to Meadowlands, which formed a part of Soweto, in order to make space for white people between 1955 and 1960. However, two thousand armed police officers prevailed and evicted over 60 000 residents. |
