The Great Kings and Queens of Africa series, commissioned by Budweiser from 1975, celebrates Black heritage through portraits of African leaders by African American artists. This work honours King Moshoeshoe I of the Basotho nation, foregrounding his legacy of unity, diplomacy, and resistance against colonial encroachment.
