Exploring the biblical story of the Last Supper, the bridge signifies a union between conflicting social forces, peoples and cultures. The artist based the artwork on the premise that, through sacrifice for the greater good, ultimate resurrection may occur. In this light, the work was made during the democratic transition in South Africa.
