Signage: | Walter was incarcerated for more than 25 years at Robben Island for his activism against apartheid. Albertina—or Ma Sisulu—is likewise remembered for her empathy and political leadership. Walter (1912–2003) became ANC secretary-general and Albertina (1918–2011) UDF co-president, deputy president of the ANC Women's League and an MP. |
