Carpets: The Heads

The Heads carpet series forms a subset of the Welsh Library carpet series.

Derived from Siphiwe Zulu’s painting The Heads, the series translates figural imagery into abstracted textile form. Dispersed and repeated head motifs evoke a collective presence, articulating themes of human diversity, multiplicity, and shared identity that resonate with constitutional values of dignity, equality, and unity.

Realised in collaboration with Blackboard Jungle, the carpets are produced through skilled tufting processes that mediate between painted composition and architectural surface, reinforcing the integration of artistic practice within the spatial and symbolic fabric of the Court.
