Programme dates: 27 November 2026
Venue: Constitutional Courtfoyer and public gallery
Time: Approximately 09:30–12:30
Programme Overview
The We The Children programme aims to introduce children to the relationship between art, justice and
constitutional rights through the Constitutional Court Art Collection (CCAC) and its Educator’s Guide.
The programme will encourage children to engage with constitutional values, explore their rights and
express their ideas and aspirations for the future through creative activities alongside using selected
artworks as points of departure.
1. Children’s Month Workshop
Proposed duration: 3 hours
The workshop will combine guided engagement with selected artworks from the CCAC exhibition and
practical artmaking activities informed by the Educator’s Guide.
The session will explore:
● Children's rights and constitutional values.
● The relationship between art, justice and everyday experiences.
● Visual expression through symbols, words, colour and imagery.
● Children's visions and aspirations for the future.
Participants may work individually or in pairs, with learners from two schools potentially collaborating
on artworks reflecting shared values and aspirations. The resulting artworks are displayed beyond the
workshop as a celebration of children's voices and perspectives within the overall exhibition.
2. Participants and Facilitation
The initial workshop is envisaged as a collaborative session facilitated by Prof. Alison Kearney (author of
the Educator’s Guide) alongside Charles Mammorobela (CCAC Alum). The CCAC team will participate in
the facilitation process to develop practical skills and approaches for incorporating the guide into future
school visits and educational programmes.
The programme may accommodate children of different age groups, with consideration also given to a
separate high school workshop exploring careers, opportunities and aspirations for the future. Teachers
may be invited to participate alongside learners, with a dedicated teacher-focused session considered
for a later stage.
3. Educational Resources and Materials
The digital version of the Educator’s Guide is anticipated by the 20th, with printed copies expected in
December. The selected exhibition artworks will be reviewed to ensure alignment with the activities and
content of the guide.
