Certification of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa (1996)

The 1996 certification of the Constitution of South Africa by the new Constitutional Court was one of the largest hearings in South African legal history. It was a rigorous, collective process that ensured the new text, passed by the Constitutional Assembly, complied with the 34 constitutional principles agreed upon by the negotiators of the 1993 Interim Constitution.
