The African Art Centre is a non-profit arts organisation based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, originally established in 1959 as a programme of the South African Institute of Race Relations and, since 1984, operating as an autonomous non-profit organisation. It has provided opportunities for training, development, marketing and the exhibition of artworks and crafts by artists and craftspeople, helping them to earn sustainable livelihoods and promoting traditional and contemporary artistic practices from the region through creative skills development, exhibitions, craft sales and economic empowerment initiatives across KwaZulu-Natal.
