Artist information: | Mohau Moholane is a Johannesburg-based artist, born in 1994. The artist began drawing cartoons and comic book characters at an early age and improved his skill and talent as he grew older. It was not until he studied visual arts in high school that he realised how important art could mean to him. His artistic influences include South African painter and writer George Pemba and Dutch painter, printmaker, and draughtsman Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, usually simply known as Rembrandt. Moholane was selected as Design Indaba’s Emerging Creatives Class of 2022, an emerging creatives programme meant to sharpen talent and provide participants with strategies for taking their work to the next level and into the market. He is one of the winners of the 2024 CCAC Student Competition. He studied at Artist Proof Studios and was a fourth-year printmaking student in 2024.
