Artist information: | Neo Ntsoma is a South African photographer, educator, and consultant who was born in 1972 in Mafikeng, North West. Her photographs have been featured in major international newspapers, magazines, and books, as well as exhibitions around the world. She is well-recognised for her photojournalism, portraiture, music, and popular culture photography. Furthermore, Ntsoma understands the value of mentorship and frequently teaches both within and outside the country. She has served as a judge on numerous photographic competitions, ranging from regional, national, to international competitions. She received the National Geographic All Roads Photography Award and co-authored Women by Women with George Hallett and Robin Comley, a book commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1956 Women's March. The march comprised 20,000 women of all races to protest regulations aimed at tightening the apartheid government's control over the mobility of Black women in cities. Ntsoma was the first woman to receive the Mohamed Amin Award, the CNN African Journalist of the Year Photography Prize, in 2004 for her photo essay, Their World in Flames.
