Signage: | This Portuguese phrase - “the struggle continues” - was used as a rallying cry during Mozambique’s war for independence. It was later adopted by South Africa’s liberation struggle. It stands as a powerful reminder that the fight for justice and equality requires ongoing effort, even after political independence or the end of formal systems of oppression. It continues to resonate today as a call to action in the face of ongoing social, economic, and political challenges. NOTE: As a conservation intervention, the original work was deinstalled in 2024 and replaced by a new exhibition copy, accessioned as CCAC# 0193X. The original neon glass tubes were collected by the artist and the appointed signage company to serve as blueprint samples for the fabrication of the new LED Neon-Flex edition. |
