Signage: | The artist made this work about his father having been incarcerated at the notorious Number Four Prison located next to the Constitutional Court. The human-animal hybrid recalls “being treated like an animal”. The predatory hyena represents ongoing oppression in post-apartheid South Africa. According to the artist, the oppressed and oppressor are no longer solely defined along racial lines. |
