| Signage: | The sculpture responds to colonial missionaries who criticised traditional cultural beliefs in favour of a ‘civilised’ way of life. ‘Isiqhaza’ refers to a Zulu earring and those who refused to be westernised, keeping their independence (‘esizimele’). The colours and patterns reference Zulu dress, practices, philosophy, beadwork and pottery. |
