National Coalition for Gay and Lesbian Equality v Minister of Justice (1998)

Description:

This was a landmark decision of the Constitutional Court of South Africa, in which the court struck down as unconstitutional the laws forbidding consensual sexual activities between men, on the grounds that the right to equality (section 9) in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of South Africa explicitly forbids discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
