| Artist information: | Regi Bardavid is an abstract artist born in Alexandria, Egypt, who has lived and worked in Italy, Zimbabwe, Zaire, and South Africa. Her artistic practice spans more than four decades and focuses mainly on abstraction, intuitive mark-making, and emotional expression. Bardavid studied at the Johannesburg Art Foundation under Bill Ainslie from 1979 to 1983 and later completed a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts at the University of South Africa (UNISA) in 1989. Her dissertation explored the relationship between the unconscious mind, intuition, and creativity. Her work explores themes of grief, healing, trauma, memory, and emotional experience through abstract forms and expressive mark-making.
