Custom-designed carpet produced for the Judges’ Lounge within the Constitutional Court. Designed by Siphiwe Zulu and realised in collaboration with Sculptured Rugs, the work translates the artist’s visual language into a hand-tufted textile integrated within the interior environment.

The composition is structured through a juxtaposition of two distinct colour fields: a deep crimson red on one side and a softer pink or terracotta tone on the other. Across these grounds, repeating organic “blot” forms are dispersed, rendered in cool blues and whites against the red field, and in dark charcoal or black against the lighter section. The irregular spacing and varied scale of these motifs generate a subtle sense of rhythm and movement across the expansive surface (7150 × 4140 mm), contributing to the lounge’s atmosphere as a space of pause, reflection, and informal exchange.
