Section 31 of the Constitution defines the right of individuals to enjoy their culture, practise their religion, use their language and belong to any cultural, religious or linguistic association of their choice. Verster depicts this through an abstract exploration. The hand gestures suggest communication, writing, art-making, making an oath, and prayer.
