Circus IV (2006) is a lithograph on paper by Albert Adams and forms part of his Circus series. The work continues the use of the circus as a metaphor for human society, focusing on ideas of control, repetition, and performance.

The monkey figure is used as a symbol of burden and vulnerability, pointing to wider experiences of suffering, intolerance, and injustice. In this work, Adams’ expressive mark-making and strong gestural lines create a heightened sense of tension and emotional intensity.
